Students from year 3 Graphic Arts have had their work featured at Europe’s largest lighting trade show, Lux Live. Working with creative director, Roberto D’Andria and PR agency XL Communications students created communications strategies for the Shuffle, a ground-breaking modular lighting system manufactured by Urbis SchrĂ©der.  At the end of the project selected students were chosen to have their work featured in a promotional brochure and in a film that formed part of Urbis SchrĂ©der stand.

Here is the introduction to the project featured in the brochure:

“For more than a century graphic designers have been bringing products and services to life using visual storytelling. For their final year ‘Working with Industry’ module, Winchester School of Art students at the University of Southampton work with a real client, a real creative director and a real product. In 2016 the students worked with SchrĂ©der to bring the Shuffle to life using the power of graphic design. The Shuffle is a smart, modular and interactive column designed to encourage social connectivity in towns and cities. The Shuffle combines state-of-the art LED lighting technology alongside cameras, speakers, internet connectivity and a range of charging applications. In a limited timeframe students went from brainstorming ideas with Roberto D’Andria, Creative Director and Founder of London-based brand advertising agency BEAR, to pitching their final ideas to SchrĂ©der executives. The students aim was to engage audiences through visual storytelling and build a world around the Shuffle that helps an audience see the complex and exciting ideas behind its simple and functional exterior. A number of students produced videos which are not featured within this brochure, please check them out at: youtube.com/schrederuk.

We thank all the students and staff at WSA for participating, it was a fantastic experience which we hope to continue in the future.”

Well done, to everyone who took part, we are very proud of you!
